Started Companion Dogs
What are Started Puppies?
Our started companion dog program is designed to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start through basic training and socialization, and temperament training. One of the easier ways to train a dog is to separate puppy skills and handler skills. Included with the adoption fee are Thera-Puppy handler skill classes, that anyone in the new puppy’s life is welcome to attend.
A good companion dog sits to say "Hello", is gentle with their people, and has self control. These started puppies are temperament trained from day three to build a resilient reaction to stress. They are also socialized to a variety of stimulus, including other dogs and people.
By beginning training and socializing early, we have developed foundation skills that serve pup and people for a lifetime.

Tumbleweed
Tumbleweed is very affectionate. He loves snuggles and staring into your eyes. Tumbleweed plays well with other dogs and enjoys being handled by people.

Dolly
Dolly is the earliest pup to have a gentle mouth when taking treats. She is very people focused and is ok being on her own. Dolly also fits well into a pack of dogs because of her ability to read social cues.

Reiner (adopted!)
Reiner has found his forever home! He is spending a few more nights with the Coach to learn to be on his own at nights and practicing his heel walking.

Fletch
Fletch loves to run, wrestle, and follows her person around like a little shadow. She is a smart, durable dog and demonstrates resilience to surprises and firm handling. Fletch also loves kids.

Maple (adopted!)
Maple has found her forever home! She spent a little extra time on site while her new family came to classes with the Coach. She is adjusting well to family life with her new mom, dad and kids!

Lasso (adopted!)
Lasso has gone home with her forever family! She was clearly in love as she left the Coach for her forever home!

Jersey
Jersey has mastered "sit to say hello" and has excellent eye contact. Her attention to humans makes obedience training a joy. She is friendly, sweet and easy to handle.

Bullseye
Bullseye is such a nice puppy. He is attentive, does all his homework without complaint and has great eye contact. Bullseye can read a room and is very social.

Stetson
This smart, beautiful boy always draws a crowd. He has a lot of confidence and charm. He has been first to do almost everything in the pack. Stetson will be great in a home with kids.

Clara (adopted!)
Clara has gone home with her forever family! She is starting her next chapter sleeping through the night and greeting her people with a "sit to say Hi" We will miss her!

"We have been so pleased with our experience adopting a dog from Coach Nancie. She provided us with so much more support than we were expecting and we have been thrilled to welcome Maple into our home with such a strong foundation of training. We have noticed how much easier this transition has been than with our previous dog because of the consistent and kind coaching she provided of us and our dog. I really appreciate her brain science based guidance for better understanding how to help our new puppy."
